Immersive Reality Gaming

Immersive Reality Gaming is defined as gaming where you receive you are TRULY part of the game. You may influence the story or push the story a certain direction with your actions. The games are mostly played online but they may include phone calls, faxes, emails, instant-messaging, text messaging, or even real world encounters.

A few years back an Alternate Reality Game was created called The Beast . Though the game gave the player the illusion of immersion it never handed the player the controls.

In 2004 AWARE was created by Real World Gaming. This game had all the elements of an ARG but gave the players involved more control of their environment. Since then more Immersive Reality Games have started. To include Project: Gateway and Wildfire Industries.
