Imran Aslam
Imran Aslam worked for the late Sheikh Zayed, of the UAE before he turned to journalism.
He began his journalism career as the editor of The Star in the 1980s.
He then become the editor of The News in Karachi and was there for a decade through the 1990s. The News is the English daily of the Jang Group of Pakistan. Their Urdu paper, Jang (جنگ) is the largest circulated Urdu language newspaper in the world.
Currently, Imran Aslam is the President of GEO television , another Jang Group firm. Jang is the first Pakistani media group to branch off into television.
He has also written plays for television, but his most successful foray has been into theatre with the creation of Gripps Theatre , a theatre body that relies on Imran Aslam's political satire for their performances. Other forays of Imran Aslam and Gripps are the translations of Dario Fo's plays for children that have been localised for Pakistan.
