Shun-kanido

Son Goku preparing for Instant Transmission

Shun-kanido also known as Instant Transmission is a technique from the Dragon Ball/Dragon Ball Z manga and the Dragon Ball Z anime used by Son Goku.

The Shun-kanido is a method of high speed travel learned by Goku after his fight with Freeza. It allows Goku and anyone that is in contact with him to travel at the speed of light for great distances (from meters to thousands of kilometers; i.e. off planet) just by concentrating on a particular individuals energy signature and 'transmitting' to that beings location. This action is usually accompanied by Goku placing his index and middle fingers on his forehead to help him concentrate.

The people on Yardrat taught Shun-kanido to Goku during a stop over while he was racing Freeza back to Earth after their fight on Planet Namek. He intended to use the technique to get to Earth before Freeza could harm anyone, but found it unnecessary because Mirai Trunks had already come to finish Freeza off.

Perfect Cell also learns this technique through absorption from Goku, while self-destructing on the planet of the North Kaiô (King Kai) (near the end of the Cell Games Saga of Dragon Ball Z).

The East Kaiôshin (Supreme Kai) also knows a variation of the technique, but does not require an energy signature to home in on. He retains this knowledge after becoming .

Special attack

The Shun-kanido Kamehameha Wave was used by Goku in his fight against Perfect Cell. Goku charges up for the Kamehameha (up to KA-ME-HA-ME) high up in the air, pretending to be shooting the Kamehameha from there (which would blow the Earth away if he did) and then uses the shun-kanido to appear right in front of Cell and blasts him with the final syllable (HA!). It was somewhat tricky and Cell was completely caught off-guard by Goku's attack.
