International Young Democrat Union
The International Young Democrat Union is an international grouping of conservative, classical liberal and Christian democratic youth organisations. It is headquartered in London.
Formed in 1992, the IYDU is aninternational political youth organisation comprising 80 organisations from 50 countries. The IYDU links centre right political youth organisations internationally.
The IYDU is the youth wing of the International Democrat Union
Chairmen of the IYDU have been:
- 1992 - 1994: Mark Heywood (Australia)
- 1994 - 1998: Tony Zagotta (United States)
- 1998 - 2002: Andrew Rosindell (United Kingdom)
- 2002 - 2004: Shane Frith (New Zealand)
- 2004 - current Donald Simpson (United Kingdom)
Among other activities the organisation runs a "Freedom Campaign" dedicated to supporting pro-democracy groups in nations with totalitarian governments. Nations targeted by this campaign include.
