For the first time, Italy entered a woman in the Olympic archery competition. She placed a respectable tenth place. Giancarlo Ferrari repeated his bronze medal-winning performance of four years earlier.

- Giancarlo Ferrari - 2449 points (bronze medal)
- Sante Spigarelli - 2405 points (14th place)
