J. Neely Johnson
John Neely Johnson (August 2, 1825–August 31, 1872) (some sources have his first name as James) was a U.S. political figure. Born in Indiana, he became a lawyer, and moved to California during the Gold Rush. He served as the governor of California between January 9, 1856 and January 8, 1858. Inaugurated at the age of 31, John Neely Johnson was the youngest Governor of California. He later served as the president of the Nevada state constitution convention in 1864, and was elected as a justice of the Supreme Court of Nevada.
