Jack Cornish White

John ("Jack") Cornish White (19 February 18912 May 1961) was an English cricketer who played for Somerset County Cricket Club and England. White was named Wisden Cricketer of the Year in 1929. He played in 15 test matches, and captained England in four of them.

In his first test as captain, in 1928/9 he stood in for Percy Chapman, lost the test and ended England's then-record-equally run of seven consecutive test victories. In the other three tests, he won once and drew twice.

Note: 1 In 1929/30 England played two test series simultaneously, one against New Zealand, the other against the West Indies.
