Jakob Aljaž
Jakob Aljaž made himself a name by having mountain huts built (in Vrata valley, on Kredarica, a small tower on the summit of Triglav) and paths in the Julian Alps laid out. He was a priest, who was also a successful composer, singer and choir master is very well known among the Slovene nation. In the presbytery of St. Michael's church and in the Triglav museum in Mojstrana there are separate rooms dedicated to his memory. Along the Jesenice - Kranjska Gora main road, a memorial of Jakob Aljaž, looking towards the mountains, pointing to Triglav, was erected in 1989.
