Jay Bothroyd
Jay Bothroyd (born May 5, 1982 in London, England) is an English football player who currently plays for Blackburn Rovers F.C. as a forward, on loan from Perugia.
Having initially been on the books at Arsenal F.C., he was bought as an eighteen-year-old by Coventry City F.C., after an incident after the Premier League Youth Cup final against West Ham United F.C. in 2000. In the three years he played for Coventry, he scored seventeen goals, despite not making much of an impact in his debut season, and only making his debut against Preston North End F.C. in the Worthington Cup.
He scored his debut goal in a defeat against Bradford City F.C. on August 24, 2001, and in the 2002/3 season became the club's top-scorer with 11 goals. This brought him interest from Perugia, and he transferred when his contract expired.
However, on transfer deadline day in August 2004, he moved to Blackburn Rovers, seeking a permanent deal.
