Jennifer Bassey

Jennifer Bassey (born July 22, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois) is an American actress.

After graduating from Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London she moved back to the United States and took roles in many off Broadway plays. This lead to further work in the daytime soap opera field.

After appearing in scores of daytime soaps Bassey landed the plum role of borderline nymphomaniac Marian Colby Chandler on ABC's top rated soap opera All My Children (1983-1987, 1989, 1995-present). She has appeared on "AMC" on and off for over 20 years and is a favorite among fans. In 1997 she won, with cast member David Canary, the Soap Opera Digest Award as "Favorite Couple" then in 1998 she won the award as "Favorite Scene Stealer." In 1999 she was nominated for a Daytime Emmy as "Best Supporting Actress". In 2003 Bassey was dropped to recurring status with the show, a move that, while not her decision, did afford her extra time to travel and spend time in her home in California (AMC is taped in New York City where Bassey and husband Luther Davis are based).

A woman in perpetual motion Bassey is a well loved member of the soap opera community and regularly appears as the unstoppable Marian Colby Chandler on All My Children.
