Jessica Bergsten

Jessica Bergsten (1969-March 20, 1991) was a skateboarding fan who was allegedly murdered by the famous skater Mark Rogowski.

Bergsten was Brandi McClain 's best friend. McClain, in turn, dated Rogowski for some time. Bergsten and McClain used to attend California skating events together, but apparently, there was no meetings between her and Rogowski before the day she was murdered.

Rogowski went through a period of serious depression; his personal troubles affected him in such a way that he alienated many of his friends and loved ones because of the way he began to act after he became rich and famous. His problems had already deepened by the time he began to date McClain.

McClain eventually grew tired of Rogowski's confrontional personality, and the couple broke up shortly before Bergsten's death.

According to his own confession to police, Rogowski met Bergsten on the fateful day of March 20. He allegedly bluedgoned her, beating her severely and then raping her before strangling her. Bergsten's body was found inside a surfboard bag.

In a case that could perhaps be compared a little to that of Nicole Simpson, Bergsten obtained international fame after death: since her confessed murderer had gained fame in Europe as well, the news of her death reached places far from her country, such as Germany and Italy.

Mark Rogowski is currently serving a 31 year sentence for Bergsten's rape and murder.

In 2003, Jessica Bergsten's name came under the public light again, after a documentary, "", was released on DVD and on television.
