Joe Brown (climber)
Joe Brown (born September 1930) is a British climber. He was the seventh and last child of a family in the Manchester suburb of Ardwick.
He was a famous British climber from the 1950s onwards, a member of the Valkyrie climbing club and founding member of the Rock and Ice climbing club . He created many new routes in the UK and abroad which were, at their time, in the hardest grades.
He made the first ascent of Kanchenjunga, together with George Band , in 1955.
