Joe Tex
Joe Tex (born Joseph Arrington) (1933 - 1982) was an American soul singer most popular during the 1960s and 1970s.
Many of his songs featured candid, unsophisticated lyrics. His most successful record was "I Gotcha," issued in 1972. His other hits include "Hold What You've Got" (1965), "I Believe I'm Gonna Make It" (1966), "Skinny Legs and All" (1967), and "Ain't Gonna Bump No More (With No Big Fat Woman)" (1977). He also wrote "Baby Your're Right," which was covered by James Brown.
Tex converted to Islam in 1972 and took Joseph Hazziez as his legal name.
