Joetsu Line
The Joetsu Line is a major rail line in Japan. Part of the East Japan Railway Company (JR East) system, it runs from Takasaki, in Gunma Prefecture to Miyauchi Station in Nagaoka, Niigata , in Niigata Prefecture, linking the northwestern Kanto region and the Koshinetsu part of the Chubu region. The 2004 Chuetsu Earthquake seriously damaged the Joetsu Line, causing JR East to close it for about two months.
