In 19?? he joined Torquay United F.C., for whom he made 129 appearances before retiring.

Bond continued his successes at Norwich, signing great players such as Martin Peters. The signing of the 1966 World Cup Hero was a masterstroke and not only secured Norwich' promotion back into the old Division One but provided inspiration and experience for Norwich's youth team programme.
After continued success with limited funds, Bond was offered the managerial position at Manchester City F.C.. Bond moved on 11 October 1980 taking John Benson and John Sainty with him. He was replaced by Ken Brown as Norwich manager.

At the beginning of the 1999/2000 season Bond joined Wigan Athletic as a coach, a role he still holds.
