John Greig
John Greig (born September 11, 1942 in Edinburgh) is a former professional football player who only played for his beloved Rangers F.C..
He made over 850 appearances for Rangers, winning three domestic trebles. He was captain when Rangers won the European Cup Winners Cup in 1972 beating Dinamo Moscow 3-2 in Barcelona.
John Greig also had a spell in management of Rangers replacing Jock Wallace in 1978 before resigning in 1983 where he was replaced by Graeme Souness. Greig's time as Rangers' manager was not successful although he did sign the clubs greatest ever goalscorer Ally McCoist from Sunderland.
He was voted "The Greatest ever Ranger" in 1999 by the Rangers supporters and in 2003 he joined the Rangers board, thereby continuing his life long work at his boyhood heroes.
