John Lloyd (writer)

John Lloyd (born 1951 in Dover, England) is a British comedy writer and producer.

Educated at Trinity College, Cambridge, he worked as radio producer at BBC 1974-1978 and created The News Quiz, Quote Unquote, The News Huddlines and To The Manor Born. He co-wrote the fifth and sixth episodes of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy radio series with creator Douglas Adams (who wrote all the rest solo). He also wrote Hordes of the Things (as J. H. W. Lloyd) with Andrew ("A. P. R.") Marshall. He worked as a TV producer at BBC 1979-1989 and created Not the Nine O'Clock News and Spitting Image; he also produced the Blackadder series.

He has been a TV commercial director since 1989 and lives in the UK. His first new TV series for 14 years, QI (short for Quite Interesting, and a pun on IQ), starring Stephen Fry and Alan Davies, began on September 11, 2003 at 10pm on BBC2 for a run of 12 episodes.
