John Neihardt
Johnathan (John) Gneisenau Neihardt (January 8, 1881 - November 24, 1973) was an American poet and philosopher. He was born in Sharpsburg, Illinois . A graduate of Nebraska Normal College (now Wayne State), he went on to be dubbed the "Poet Laureate of Nebraska and the Plains" by the Nebraska State Legislature in 1921.
He wrote several novels including:
- When the Tree Flowered
- Black Elk Speaks
- The Divine Enchantment
- A Bundle of Myrrh
