John Wells is a successful theater and television producer and writer. He was born in Alexandria, Virginia.

He is best known for his role of producer of the acclaimed television series ER, Third Watch, The West Wing and China Beach. He is currently working on the movie Doom, set to be released in 2005.

He is former president of the West section of the Writers Guild of America.
