Judy Marsales
Judy Marsales is a businessperson and politician in Ontario, Canada. She is currently a member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario, representing the riding of Hamilton West.
Before entering politics, Marsales was a prominent real estate agent in Hamilton, Ontario. She began working in the field in 1980, and started her own firm, Judy Marsales Real Estate Ltd., in January 1988. She has received numerous local awards, was named Woman Entrepreneur of the Year for Hamilton-Wentworth in 1995, and was also nominated for Canadian Woman Entrepreneur of the Year in the same year. In 1991, was a nominee for Woman of the Year. She served as president of the Hamilton & District Chamber of Commerce in 1996, and as President of the Business Executives Association in 1998. In 2001, she was named director of the Hamilton Port Authority, resigning after her election to public office in 2003.
In the 2003 provincial election, Marsales ran as a Liberal in the open seat of Hamilton West (previously held by New Democrat David Christopherson, who was not seeking re-election). Despite running a low-profile campaign, she was able to defeat New Democrat Roy Adams by just over 2000 votes. She is currently a backbench supporter of the government.
