Julius Root
In the Artemis Fowl series, Julius Root is the commander of the LEPrecon division of the Lower Elements Police. He is almost always angry, and is annoyed by many officers, including Foaly the centaur and sometimes Captain Holly Short. In the original book he is backstabbed by Briar Cudgeon. Julius Root smokes cigars and has a small sense of humor. He despises Artemis Fowl and his accomplice Butler, and is good at gunfights. He dies in the fourth book Artemis Fowl: The Opal Deception when Opal Koboi vaporizes him with a bomb.
