June Lockhart
June Lockhart (born 25 June 1925) is an American television actress best known for her roles as the mothers on Lassie and Lost in Space. She also appeared on television as Dr. Janet Craig on Petticoat Junction.
She was the daughter (and only child) of two actors: Gene Lockhart, who came to fame on Broadway in 1933 in Ah, Wilderness!, and his wife Kathleen, née Arthur , who appeared with her husband in many of his stage plays and several movies, including A Christmas Carol, in which June, as a teen, appeared. June also played supporting parts in films as Meet Me in St. Louis, Sergeant York, and The Yearling.
June Lockhart won a 1948 Tony Award for outstanding performance by a newcomer for her role in For Love or Money .
June Lockhart married John Lindsay in 1959, and they had two daughters. One, Junie Lockhart, also billed as Lizbeth Lockhart, had only a brief acting career, and the other, Anne Lockhart appeared in several television programs, most prominently Battlestar Galactica. (Anne Lockhart married the son of actor Buck Taylor , in his turn the son of actor Dub Taylor).
