K. A. Applegate

K.A. Applegate is the author of the Animorphs, Remnants, and Everworld book series. Katherine Alice Applegate was born in Michigan in 1956. Since then she has lived in Texas, Florida, California, and Minnesota. She currently lives in Chicago, Illinois

Applegate's favorite genres are science fiction, fantasy, and adventure. She has won the Best New Children's Book series in 1997 in Publishers Weekly.

Applegate plays the cello and fortunately lives in a sound-proofed building. She has two cats, one of them is named Dick. She has a son named Jake, although she says the Animorph leader isn't his namesake.

Applegate has also written many books, under many pen names. When writing romances for Harlequin, she used the name Katherine Kendall. She wrote various books for Disney as A. R. Plumb and Nicholas Stevens. She wrote a horse series called Silver Creek Riders as Beth Kincaid. She was also one of the many writers who wrote Sweet Valley Twins , which are all published under the name Francine Pascal.

Her other interests include traveling, reading, and gardening.
