KOMTAR

KOMTAR (Kompleks Tun Abdul Razak) is Penang's tallest building. It is a 760ft (232m) 65-storey complex consists of offices, shoplots, food-courts and most importantly the Penang central government's office. It is located in the heart of Georgetown. The name of the building is in honour of the second Prime Minister of Malaysia, the late Tun Abdul Razak bin Hussein. Incidentally, the first piling of the building's phase one is done by Tun Razak himself on 1 January 1974. The complex's first phase was completed in 1978. Subsequent phases and extension of the complex is still in progress as of today.

Another building bearing the same name was also built in Johor Baru and it consists of a 25 storey office tower block and a double storey shopping complex.
