KTM (Motorcycle Manufacturer)
Kronreif, Trunkenpolz, Mattighofen (KTM) is a Austrian motorcycle manufacturer. The company was founded in 1934 by Hans Trunkenpolz in Mattighofen as an metalwork shop called Kraftfahrzeuge Trunkenpolz Mattighofen. 1953 the KTM introduced into serial production of motorcycles. The 20 employees completed three motorcycles per day. Since 1955 the businessman Ernst Kronreif became shareholder of the company. Now the company is called Kronreif, Trunkenpolz, Mattighofen. The engineer Trunkenpolz died in 1962 unexpected.
Near all components for the motorcycles was built by KTM itself. (Such as radiator and brakes) In the year 1992 the company have gone insolvent. KTM was divided in three companies:
- KTM Sportmotorcycles GmbH, was renamed 1994 to KTM Sportmotocycles AG
- KTM Fahrrad GmbH (Bicycles)
- KTM Kühler GmbH (Radiators)
In the business year 2002/2003 the KTM Motorcycles AG has delivered 70.000 motorcycles worldwide.
The Swedish motorcycle company Husaberg AB and Dutch White Power Suspension are subsidiaries of the KTM Group.
KTM began in motorsports with Motocross Racing. In the last years KTM has gained more success in motorsports such as Rallye Dakar, Atlas-Rallye. In 2003 KTM started Road racing.
The shining orange color of the most KTM cycles has the fact, that the bikes also called pumkin.

Note : above seems to be the total model listing. Some countries cannot get all models. E.g. we definitely cannot get a new 380 here in the USA :(
