Kanal Piastowski
(Redirected from Kaiserfahrt)
The Kanał Piastowski (Piast Canal, German: Kaiserfahrt) is a canal in Pomerania, Poland that connects the city of Szczecin with the Świna river. The canal is approximately 12 km long, and ten metres deep.
It was dug by the German Empire between 1875 and 1890 to allow ships on the Baltic Sea to easier reach the industrial city of Stettin. After it was opened for ships the town of Swinemünde began to diminish in importance as a German harbour.
