Karadjordjevic
The Karađorđević Serbian ruling dynasty is descended from Karađorđe. They had a long feud with the Obrenović dynasty. The dynasty lost the throne in November 1945 when Yugoslavia became a republic.
The ruling members were:
- Aleksandar of Serbia (reigned 1842-1858),
- Petar I of Serbia (reigned 1903-1921),
- Aleksandar of Yugoslavia (reigned 1921-1934),
- Pavle (regent for Peter II 1934-1941), and
- Petar II of Yugoslavia, the last king, reigning from March 27, 1941 to November 29, 1945.
Current non-ruling members:
Between Aleksandar and Petar I there were Miloš Obrenović (1858-1860) the founder of the Obrenović dynasty, Mihailo Obrenović (1862-1868), Milan Obrenović (grand duke 1868-1882 and king 1882-1889), and Aleksandar Obrenović (1889-1903), following his assassination Petar Karađorđević was crowned king.
Karađorđevićs are politically active in Serbia, supporting the view that it should become a kingdom again.
Official residence of the Crown Prince Alexander is Beli Dvor.
