Karol Lipinski
Karol (Joseph) Lipiński (October_30, 1790 in Lublin, Poland – December_16, 1861 in Lwow, today Ukraine) was a Polish virtuoso violinist and composer.
In 1820 he travelled to Berlin where he met Robert Schumann and Louis Spohr. From 1840 on he was concertmaster of the Royal Oratory in Dresden.
His friend, violinist and composer Niccolo Paganini, dedicated his Opus 10 to Lipinski.
The Karol Lipinski University of Music in Poland was named after him.
He was the owner of a Stradivarius violin that became known as the Lipinski Stradivarius.
