Kataklysm is a Canadian death metal band. They call their style "Northern Hyperblast", referring to the extremely fast blast-beats the drummer fuses into the music. Formed in 1992, the lineup changed a few times, consisting of Maurizio Iacono (vocals), Jean-Francois Dagenais (guitar), Stephane Barbe (bass), and Max Duhamel (drums). Their style fuses the European style of melodic death metal with the brutal U.S. death metal style. Bands that their sound has been compared to include At The Gates, Suffocation and Hatebreed.
