Keller Williams

Fredricksburg, Virginia resident Keller Williams is a self-taught musician who has a percussive sound, playing mainly on acoustic guitars while looping other instruments and being a one man band, with only the help of his soundman. He plays every instrument in his one man band. He is also a singer-songwriter who often writes songs that is not exactly the often thought of standard thoughtful introspective folk song. His words are often humorous or nonsensical with lighthearded liberal views on everyday activities and life itself. He often gets into a jam-band mode when he plays with the String Cheese Incident, which combines and makes the Keller Williams Incident. He also previously recorded a CD with one of the world's best jam bands, the String Cheese Incident, whom they share management with and for whose label records Williams' albums. By his association with the String Cheese Incident, he has been gaining fanbase strength and hitting the hearts of more fans with every tour. Keller is also often known affectionately as K-Dub to friends and his loving and sometimes obsessive fanbase. His first album "Freek" was released in 1994. Some of his most famous songs include Freaker By The Speaker, Passapatanzy, and A Day That Never Was. He often loops and combines Newgrass/Bluegrass, Folk, Electronica/Dance, African style djembe and drums, funk, mouth percussion, mouthflugel, Bass and other assorted instruments and genres to create his own creative and innovative style of generally folkish music. He does many covers including Bob Dylan, Ani DiFranco, Neil Young, John Prine, the Grateful Dead and Michael Hedges. His main musican inspirations are Jerry Garcia, Victor Wooten, Martin Sexton, Leo Kottke, and others. He is also known as the "jam-man" for his insane and often amazing maneuvering between instruments and recording/looping what he plays, making him one of the most lesser known, unusual, yet talented musicians in the Jam Band scene.
