Kentucky Speedway is a relatively new superspeedway located in Sparta, Kentucky, approximately halfway between Louisville, Kentucky and Cincinnati, Ohio, with easy interstate highway access to both cities, and is additionally less than 100 miles from another fairly sizable market, Lexington, Kentucky. This central location has made it seem to be a natural candidate for a NASCAR Nextel Cup race in addition to the series that it already hosts; however no plans seem to have been made for this, as it would require the move of a race from an existing venue. NASCAR's recent announcement of such moves did not include a Nextel Cup race for Kentucky Speedway.
