Kevin Davies

Kevin Davies (born March 26, 1977 in Sheffield, England) is an English football player who currently plays for Bolton Wanderers F.C. as a striker.

Davies originally made his name as a vital part of the Chesterfield F.C. team who heroically reached the semi-finals of the F.A. Cup in 1997, before losing in controversial circumstances to Middlesbrough F.C.. He moved to Southampton F.C. in May 1997, and, in the 13 months for which he played for them, scored nine league goals. When Blackburn Rovers F.C. signed him for 7.5 million pounds the following season, his potential as a player somewhat overshadowed his form at the club, scoring one league goal and making only occasional starts before returning to his previous club, Southampton, in exchange for Egil Ostenstad , in August 1999.

Just two league matches into his return tenure at Southampton, he found himself sent off in a defeat against Liverpool F.C., having been substituted for Mark Hughes.

As he became more and more unable, however, to prove himself in the first team, he was loaned out to Millwall F.C. and released between September and November 2002. However, having trialled with Bolton Wanderers, his Premiership status was to be retained in July 2003 and renewed in 2004 following a season which saw him win Bolton's Player of the Year awards. A recent deal allowed him to stay at the club until 2007.
