Kiev Arsenal mutiny
Kiev Arsenal mutiny, sometimes called the January Rebellion, happened in the center of Kiev (Kyiv), Ukraine in January 29, 1918. The Bolshevik-organized workers of the Arsenal factory in Kiev staged an armed revolt against the Ukrainian Tsentral'na Rada government. Ukrainian troops loyal to the Rada sieged and shelled the compound. The mutiny has helped Bolshevik forces to storm the city and finally gain the control over it.
This event is generally regarded as "class-motivated" by the historians similarly to other worker's movements of Russia at the time.
To commemorate the mutiny, the historic defensive wall of the Arsenal factory bearing the traces of shelling has been preserved by the Soviet authorities on the city's Moskovs'ka Street (near the Arsenal'na metro station).
