Kim Craitor

Kim Craitor is a politician in Ontario, Canada. He is currently a member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario, representing the riding of Niagara Falls for the Ontario Liberal Party.

Before entering politics, Craitor worked in human resource development. He was Executive Director of the Niagara Falls Employment Health Centre, and was a Human Relations Officer and Investigation and Control Officer at Human Resources Development Canada for twenty-six years. He was elected as an alderman to the Niagara Falls city council in 1990 and served in that capacity until his entry into provincial politics, often quarrelling with Mayor Wayne Thomson . He also served for ten years on the Niagara Falls Chamber of Commerce.

In the provincial election of 2003, Craitor defeated former candidate Selena Volpatti for the Liberal nomination and was subsequently elected to the Ontario legislature, defeating incumbent Progressive Conservative Bart Maves by about 3500 votes. He is currently a backbench supporter of the government of Dalton McGuinty.

Craitor is generally regarded as being on the left-wing of the Liberal Party. He attended the campaign launch for New Democratic Party candidate Wayne Gates in the Canadian federal election of 2004, and was generally regarded as at least tacitly supporting Gates over right-wing Liberal candidate Victor Pietrangelo , a longtime council rival who provided financial contributions to the provincial Tories during the Mike Harris years.
