King's Contrivance, Columbia, Maryland
King's Contrivance is one of the villages in Columbia, Maryland and home to about 11,000 residents. It contains a village center (open air shopping center) and many apartment complexes and housing developments. Neither the least nor most expensive village in Columbia, it takes its name from an expensive restaurant with the same name. The housing developments are separated into three neighborhoods. Huntington, located to the Southeast of the village center, is mainly single family homes. Macgill's Common extends to the northwest towards the center of Columbia. Dickinson, to the west, takes its name from the famous American poet, Emily Dickinson. In fact, almost all of the street names in King's Contrivance are derived from various Dickinson poems.
Shopping & Entertainment
The shopping center contains a Safeway, a Bagel Bin, a McDonalds, a Chinese restaurant, a nice Indian restaurant, an Italian diner, a Subway sandwich restaurant, a pub, a decently-stocked liquor store , several ATMs, a beauty salon, a dry cleaner, and a cobbler.
