Kir Bulychev


Kir Bulychev or Bulychyov (Russian: Кир Булычёв) (October 18, 1934September 5, 2003) was a pen name of Igor Vsevolodovich Mozheyko (И́горь Все́володович Може́йко), who was a Russian science fiction writer and historian. Received a Master's degree in 1965 and a Ph.D. in 1981. Wrote his first science fiction story in 1965. Since 1963 he worked in the Institute of Oriental Studies of the USSR Academy of Sciences.

He is best known for his series of humorous short stories about Gusliar, a Russian town that attracts all kinds of aliens and supernatural beings - they were often satires at life in Soviet Russia, Another well known series of Bulychev's stories are young adult stories about Alice Selezneva, a young girl from the future.

Bulychev also translated numerous American SF stories into Russian, and wrote scripts for more than 20 movies.
