Knightmare

Knightmare was a UK television programme for children produced by Anglia Television and aired on ITV from 1987 to 1994. It featured a team of four children (11-16 years old), one of whom would be wearing a special helmet which left them unable to see. The team would try to overcome a variety of puzzles in a fantasy dungeon, much like many text-based computer games that relied on description and commands, rather than any visuals.

The child in the helmet would be in the partly computer-generated, partly hand-drawn fantasy world (using bluescreen chroma key) while the others had to watch and guide him or her with hurried descriptions and shouted instructions. The object of the game was to collect various items and get out 'alive'. Unlike most other kid-oriented shows, Knightmare had no qualms with having a very high difficulty level; in its 8 year history, only 8 teams managed to successfully conquer the dungeon.
