Kuldigas County
Kuldigas county is located at western part of Latvia along both sides of the river Venta. Kuldigas county has borders with 5 other counties: Ventspils, Talsi, Tukums, Saldus and Liepaja. The current borders of the county vere established in 1950.

Main roads: Crossing Kuldigas county are railroads going from Riga to Liepaja and from Liepaja to Ventspils (closed), and one of the main roads in Latvia - route A-9 from Riga to Liepaja.
Nature: On the NW side of the county is Piejuras plain. In the middle are the - Rietumkurzemes height with hills, which are 100 - 120 m high above sea level, with the highest point Hill Vardupe - 140 m. In the NE side of county is Austrumkurzemes height (60 - 110 m. above sea level) Hilly relief covers 35% of district territory. There are more than 40 rivers longer than 5 km, and 48 lakes more than 1 km². The largest rivers are the Venta and Abava . Forests cover about 48% of county territory.
Climate: The average temperature in January is about -30, but in July +16.8°C. The amount of precipation is 600-700 mm per year.
Economy: Main branches are agriculture, woodprocessing , forestry, and fish farming.
