Lagarfljót
The lake Lagarfljót (also called Lögurinn) is situated in the east of Iceland near Egilsstaðir. Its surface is measuring 53 km2 and it is 25 km long, its greatest width is 2,5 km and its greatest depth 112 m. The river Lagarfljót flows through this lake.
The biggest forest in Iceland, Hallormsstaðursskogar is to be found near the lake as well as a nice waterfall, Hengifoss. Hengifoss, at 118m, is one of the highest waterfalls in the country. Below it, there is another waterfall called Litlanesfoss.
Like in the Scottish lake Loch Ness, a monster is believed by some to be living in the depths of the lake Lagarfljót.
