Larrousse
The Larrousse-Calmels Formula One team was founded in 1987 by Didier Calmels and former racer Gérard Larrousse . It was based in Antony, in the southern suburbs of Paris. It was later renamed simply Larrousse when Calmels was arrested for shooting his wife in a domestic argument in the spring of 1989.
The team's first car was commissioned from Lola and was powered by a Cosworth DFZ V8 engine. It was driven by Philippe Alliot. By the end of 1987, a second car was built, driven by Yannick Dalmas.
The team continued to race throughout the late 1980s and early 1990s with little success. Frequently running near the back of the field, Larrousse were rarely competitive and scored points mainly through attrition.
At the end of the 1994 season, with costs spiraling and many indipendant teams facing financial difficulty, Larrousse were forced to withdraw from Formula One.
