Liberty Jail
Liberty Jail is a prison in Liberty, Missouri where Joseph Smith, Jr. and several of his associates were incarcerated from November 20, 1838 to April 9, 1839. Sections 121, 122, and 123 of the Doctrine and Covenants were recorded while Joseph was being held there. A museum/Visitor's Center chronicling the Prophet's internment now stands on the site of the old jail.
