Lieutenant Hawk

Lieutenant Hawk was a fictional character in the Star Trek film series. He was the helmsman on the Enterprise-E during the events of Star Trek: First Contact. While on a mission outside the ship, Hawk was assimilated by the Borg. He was eventually killed by Worf.

In the first outlines of the script for the film, there are references to the fact that Hawk is gay, which would have been the first appearance of an openly gay character in Star Trek history. This did not survive into the final cut of the film, although Hawk's subsequent appearances in flashback form in later novels (such as the Deep Space Nine Section 31 novel, "Rogue") further develop this plot point.
