Linda Creed
Linda Creed (1949 - April 10, 1986) was a songwriter who teamed up with Thom Bell to produce some of the most successful Philadelphia soul groups of the 1970s.
Born in 1949 in Philadelphia, she had her first success in 1971 when Dusty Springfield recorded her song “Free Girl.” Her work with Bell, initially with The Stylistics and then with The Spinners, brought her huge commercial success. She was also co-writer of “The Greatest Love Of All” for George Benson, a song which later became a major hit for Whitney Houston. Creed died of breast cancer in 1986, aged only 37.
