These ships of the Allied navies of World War II were present in Tokyo Bay on Victory over Japan Day (2 September 1945) when the Japanese Instrument of Surrender was signed on board the battleship USS Missouri (BB-63).

A different ship, USS Charles F. Hughes (DD-428) , was sweeping mines that morning. At 10:27 the ship passed Ashika Light . At 10:30 the war ended. At 10:44 the ship made preparations for entering the port and anchored at 12:21 in Tokyo Bay.
