List of Marvel Comics characters

This is a list of major characters appearing in the Marvel Universe, which encompasses most fictional characters created for and owned by Marvel Comics. Minor characters (obscure characters making only a few appearances) and licensed or creator-owned characters (Conan the Barbarian, G. I. Joe, Godzilla, Micronauts, Groo the Wanderer, RoboCop, Star Trek, Star Wars, etc.) are not included. Marvel Universe characters who exist in other dimensions or timelines (such as Dormammu or Kang the Conqueror) are included. Marvel has periodically published guides to their characters under the title Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe.
