  • William Patrick Hitler - Nephew of Adolf Hitler who was born at 102 Upper Stanhope Street, Toxteth Park, Liverpool. His father operated a restaurant on Dale Street; a boarding house on Parliament Street and a hotel on Mount Pleasant, which failed. His bankrupt father left his wife and son and returned to Germany. William Patrick Hitler later emigrated to the United States, settled there and joined the U.S. Navy during WWII.
  • Jeremiah Horrocks - Astronomer who calculated that the distance between Earth and the sun was 59,000,000 miles--- though well short of the actual distance of 93,000,000 miles, his estimate was more accurate than any other calculations of his time.

  • Banastre Tarleton - A dashing and distinguished British cavalry officer during the American War of Independence.
