The Central African Republic is a dictatorship. New presidential elections were held march 13, 2005 in which parties were allowed to be active.

- Central African Democratic Rally (Rassemblement Démocratique Centrafricain): authoritarian party
- Civic Forum (Forum Civique): conservative party
- Democratic Forum for Modernity (Forum Démocratique pour la Modernité)
- Liberal Democratic Party (Parti Libéral Démocratique): liberal party
- Liberation Movement of the Central African People (Mouvement pour la Libération du Peuple Centrafricain): christian-democratic party
- Movement for Democracy and Development (Mouvement pour la Démocratie et le développement): authoritarian party
- National Unity Party (Parti de l'Unité Nationale)
- Patriotic Front for Progress (Front Patriotique pour le Progrès): social-democratic party
- People's Union for the Republic (Union Populaire pour la République)
