Lithium aluminum hydride
Lithium aluminum hydride (LiAlH4, commonly abbreviated to LAH) is a powerful reducing agent used in organic chemistry. Capable of reducing many carbonyl (C=O) compounds to their corresponding alcohols, LAH is unique because it can reduce esters and carboxylic acids, which can not be reduced by other common reducing agents such as sodium borohydride.
