Livingston F.C.

Livingston F.C. is a Scottish football team currently playing in the Scottish Premier League. They are currently managed by former Scotland defender Richard Gough.

The club was previously based in Edinburgh and known as Ferranti Thistle F.C. from 1943 and Meadowbank Thistle F.C. from 1974. This was changed to Livington in 1995. Livingston FC won the Third Division title in the 1995/1996 season and over the next five years added the Second Division and First Division titles to the Honour Role.

In their first season in the SPL, Livington finished third (only bettered by Glasgow Giants Rangers and Celtic) and won a place in the UEFA Cup. After defeating FC Vaduz in the Qualifiers Livingston FC were beaten in the UEFA Cup first round losing 9-7 on aggregate to Austrian team SK Sturm Graz.

Livingston won their first major trophy in 2004 by winning the Scottish League Cup (named the CIS Insurance Cup) after a 2-0 win over Hibernian F.C. at Hampden Park.

Progress

Livingston F.C's first season ended in triumph as they were crowned champions of the Scottish Division Three for the 1995-96 season. Three years later, in 1998-99, they won promotion again as Division Two champions. Another promotion followed in 2000-01 when the club finished champions of Division One and gained promotion to the Scottish Premier League after just six seasons in existence. Livingston's first SPL campaign, 2001-02, brought more success as they finished third in the league and qualified for the UEFA Cup. Livingston won their first major trophy in 2003-04 when they lifted the Scottish League Cup, a triumph which ensured another UEFA Cup campaign.
