Llanelly
Llanelly is the name of both a village and its respective parish in south-east Wales. The village is situated on a hillside above the Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal and the River Usk, roughly 4 miles west of Abergavenny. The parish is part of the administrative county of Monmouthshire and traditional county of Brecknockshire. Prior to local government reorganisation in 1996, the village used to be in the district of Blaenau Gwent, but the inhabitants overwhelmingly voted to be transferred out of it. The Brecon Beacons National Park encompasses the parish and the surrounding area.
Llanelly is also an alternative English-language spelling of Llanelli in Carmarthenshire. The historic property Llanelly House is therefore not in the village of Llanelly, but the town in Carmarthenshire.
